They have great sustainable coffee. We added boldness to the mix with a versatile visual identity.

Von&Vonnie is a roastery and bakery in Porto. For their brand identity, we made several sketches and experiments, trying to create something clean, yet bold and edgy. Using black tape, we started playing with the first two letters of their name, "vo". We suddenly realised that these two letters looked like a simplified expresso cup. While we were still experimenting with the black tape, we developed the logo.

This spontaneity of this graphic identity leaves room for error and improvisation, and is easily adaptable to the brand's needs. The modular stamp we created for the e-commerce packaging is an example of this versatility as it can easily adapt to boxes with different sizes.

When designing the coffee packaging for Von&Vonnie, we wanted to ensure that it was easily recognisable as their brand. But we also knew that it was important to prioritise those who plant, nurture and harvest the coffee. In the words of our clients: "We are the roasters, not the most important in the chain".

With this briefing in mind, we decided that the front of the coffee packaging should feature the label, with the name of the producer in the largest font size, followed by details of the origin, process and variety in smaller font sizes. Information about the coffee's notes, which would help customers understand what nuances they might encounter, was placed at the bottom of the label. On the sides, we have the logo and the colour "lavender", which is also associated with the brand's identity. This careful but fun arrangement of the elements on the different sides of the pack creates a sense of visual play when displayed on shelves.

As the coffee blends are constantly changing, we had to be pragmatic with the information and composition to minimise errors. It is the clients (Morgan & Yvonne) who edit and print the labels in-house from an editable file that we prepare in advance. We also created stickers have been created where the date can be manually entered so that their customers can know when the coffee was roasted. These stickers also help to ensure that the pack folds neatly.
